Just why is jewellery so highly prized, apart from its intrinsic value of course? If you have ever researched and studied fine pieces of art , you will be aware of the artistry and craftsmanship that goes into this. It is a fine art and the skill required is hard to describe. It is mainly done by hand and fine scroll work and fluting takes years to be able to do properly. Ensuring stones are encrusted correctly so they are permanent and yet are visible to the discerning eye means hours of graft and guile. It is not surprising that these pieces increase far beyond their material value to cover the costs of manufacture.
